Sea's Spring Resort a Diver's Review

_dsc0137
Seas's Spring is located in Mainit, Mabini, Batangas Philippines. It is a very large resort occupying 5 hectares of land in the small sitio made popular by hot springs on shore as well as under the sea.  It is still part of the "Anilao" diving area. This confusing sitio labels of the Municipality of Mabini should be an interesting future post. But for now let's get into our review.

The Place

On their coastline is (not so) Secret Bay dive site (aka Mainit Muck), to the right is Mainit Point, a bit further left is Bubbles.  For those familiar with Anilao diving, these are the go to sites when Habagat (westerly, from July to November) intensifies.  As of this writing, it is the only resort in Mabini that is facing east, so missing the familiarly beautiful Anilao sunset will hopefully be replaced by a lovely sunrise, for early risers.

The Facility

At its current form, the place can accommodate 200+ people comfortably, with several dozen rooms, 2 salt water pools, a hot spring water pool (about 45 degrees celcius), a well stocked dive shop with nitrox operated by Dive Central, conference rooms, 2 spacious dining areas, a natural sauna, banana boat and ample parking albeit unshaded.

On the 3 floor main building are deluxe rooms that have airconditioning, refreshingly gorgeous bathroom, satellite TV and a view of the sea.  Several aircon dormrooms are also available in a bungalow just behind, each one contains 10 futons, where toilet and shower rooms are shared.

Adjacent to the main building is the reception, restaurants, locker room for day trippers, function rooms, play room with billiards, jacuzzi.

There is a very long (about 70 meters) salt water pool with one side having a depth of 3 meters, perfect for scuba training.  The other salty pool for kids is shallower and smaller.  The natural hot spring pool is beside and is shaded.  More images.

The Value

Surprisingly the cost of staying a diving from Sea's Spring is affordable.  You may do shore dives to Secret Bay and Mainit Point further saving on boat costs.  Buffet, set or a la carte meals are available.

The Good

Rooms, pools, activity options, diving choices are quite good.

The Bad

The shoreline is littered with boats, although this is common in Anilao.  A strong Amihan (easterly, from December till June) can make shore dives a little trickier.

The Conclusion

I enjoyed my stay at Sea's Spring resort, if you like macro underwater photography, shore muck dives to Secret Bay is a no brainer.  For the photographer diver with kids it will seem like paradise.
