My Gear
I thought it would be a good idea to share the brands and models of scuba equipment I use in a tropical island setting. My first criteria in choosing personal gear is fit and comfort. But beyond these, my selection weighs in durability because I do hundreds of dives per year. Availability of parts and service in the Philippines. Performance on the function of the gear figures highly too. The latter includes consideration of: streamlining, modularity, interoperability with other gear, functionality on emergency situations and price.
My single tank rig:
Mask - Omersub frameless twin lens black skirtRegulator - Atomic Aquatics B1 + Salvo Stainless Steel SPG (hoses in proper lengths)
BCD - Deep Sea Supply (DSS) stainless steel medium backplate + DSS hogarthian harness + DSS Torus 26 wing
Wetsuit - Bare Velocity 3mm full suit
Booties - Tilos Hydro+ low cut neoprene
Fins - Gull Mantis Graphite
Dive Computer - Suunto Stinger
Compass - Suunto SK7 on bungee mount
Dive Light - Primary- Light Monkey HID; Backup- Heser LED
Snorkel - Aqualung Twin Valve
BC Pocket - Hydrofit Scuba Hipster + SMB and DSS Spool
Watch - Seiko Orange Monster
I have a lot of other equipment but I use the stuff listed above heavily. When doing dives outside the country and liveaboards, I switch to my DSS Kydex backplate and Torus 17 wing also swapping the heavy rubber Gull fins with the Mares Volo Race full foot fins to save on weight.
